Information and stuff heard around the store

The information that will appear in this section are going to be things that I've heard from other fisherman
or even some of my own thoughts and comments. I wouldn't recommend you take too much of what is posted here
very seriously, but maybe just maybe something will provide a bit of information that can help you.

Thank goodness the soft water fishing season is going. It seemed like it would never get here.
I don't mind the ice and snow but honestly by mid-March it's time to move on!

From what we are hearing and what I've experienced, this year you will be able to catch a lot of
walleyes in the 9-11 inch range. The DNR assessment indicated that 2004/2005 were not good years
for walleye production. However, 2006 was a good year and those are the fish you're catching now.
You may want to switch to a larger minnow or use a larger rapala to try and get some of the bigger
fish, they are out there just waiting for you!

The weather really hasn't cooperated much, it's been windy and not real warm. I think that minnows
will still be going for at least another couple of weeks. I'd try leeches as well, but until the
water warms up you might be better of using a jig and a minnow.

Just remember a bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work, unless of course you work
at a bait store!
Good Fishing!

Dave
